About Adam P. Kennedy
Adam P. Kennedy is a writer and publisher. He was born in Rome, Italy and grew up in New York City and London, England. He attended Manhattan Country School and Riverdale Country School. He graduated from Antioch College with a double major in Soviet Studies and Journalism.
Adam has traveled extensively through out Africa and Europe for over 50 years.
He is the creator of the television shows Africa/U.S.A.: The Connection and The World Connection, “Edu-tainment” programs for teens that aired on network television and PBS.
Signature Theatre Co. produced his autobiographical play Sleep Deprivation Chamber, co-authored with his mother, playwright Adrienne Kennedy and received an Obie Award for Best New American Play.
Adam co-founded Abandon Entertainment - along with Karen Lauder and Marcus Ticotin - a television and movie company that produced the feature films Oxygen and Scotland PA and the made for TV movie on TNT, Thrill Seekers.
His publishing company, Kennedy Publishing, co-founded with his wife, won the Pen Oakland Josephine Miles Award for excellence in literature for Mom, How Did You Meet the Beatles? A three week theatrical run of the Beatles material launched the Public Lab Series at the Public Theatre in New York City. The play is published by Samuel French, Inc.
He founded Chronicling Greatness which is dedicated to documenting the stories of pioneers and veterans, producing its first interview series book, Joseph Papp Legendary Producer: an Interview with Adam P. Kennedy.
Since then he has conducted hundreds of interviews, ranging from combat veterans from World War II to Vietnam about their lives and service for the America’s Greatest Heroes of War series, including Medal of Honor recipients, numerous Cross, Silver and Bronze star recipients.
Stories Of America - The Black Experience is Adam’s latest project.
Kennedy is dedicated to telling the stories of black Americans and their vital contributions to the history of America.
He is the recipient of the Alumni Mentor Awards for Activism in Social Justice and the Arts from Manhattan Country School, his Alma Mater.
Adam is the father of four children and resides in Virginia.
